YOGA

Yoga is a group of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual practices or disciplines which was originated in ancient time in India. Yoga is one of the six Astika schools of hindu philosophical traditions. There is a broad variety of yoga schools,practices and goals in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism.

Yoga is a mind and body practice with a 5,000 year history in ancient indian philosophy. Various styles of yoga combine physical postures ,breathing techniques, and meditation or relaxation. In more recent years , it has become popular as a form of physical exercise based upon poses that promote improved control of the mind . And body and enhance well-being .

there are several different types of yoga and many disciplines within the practice. This article explores the history,philosophy , and various branch of yoga.

there is no written record of the inventor of yoga.

Male yoga practitioners are known as yogis.and female yoga practitioners are called yoginis.both practiced both taught yoga long before any written account of yoga come into existence.

Yoga is well known for its postures and poses ,but they were not a key part of original yoga traditions in india . Fitness was not a primary goal .practitioners and followers of yogic traditions focused instead on other practices , such as expending spritual energy using breathing method and focus method .the traditional began to gain popularity in the west at the end of the 19th century.an explosion of interest in yoga postural occured in the 1920’s and 1930s.first in the india and later in the west .

Benefits of yoga

increase flexibility increased muscle strength and tone. Improved energy. Maintaining a balanced metabolism . Weight reduction. Cardio and circulatory health. Improved athletic performance protection from injury.

However, as a general rule of thumb, a healthy practice for vinyasa yoga is usually around 3to 5times a week. This gives you adequate time for rest. Rest is crucial to recover, get stronger and maintain your health.

the negatives of yoga are.the most common yoga injury included ;neck ,back,knee,and and shoulder injuries. This includes torm injuries muscles .herniate disks and carpal tunnel. Poses like chaturanga ,an upward push up with bent elbows, can cause extensive damage to wrists , elbow and shoulders.

regularly yoga practice creates mental clarity and calmness ,increasing body awareness,relieves the mind.

Yoga poses streach your muscles and increases your range of motion……..and even through yoga is not aerobic , some research find it can be just as good as aerobic exercise for improving health.
